Our People
Colin Beames: Director of the WRDI Institute
BA (Hons) Qld, BEng (Hons), MBA, MAPS.
Colin is both a corporate psychologist and an engineer. Prior to his mid-life career change to organisational psychology, Colin worked as a consultant, senior manager, and professional engineer in the resources sector. His organisational consultancy experience includes assignments in Australia and overseas, both in the private and public sectors. Industries in which Colin has worked include the: agricultural distribution and export, agricultural research, banking and finance, biotechnology research, building and construction, information technology, insurance, health, manufacturing, retail, resources, and tourism industries.
He is one of Australia’s leading human capital experts, with a deep and expansive knowledge of the subject, and more specifically in the areas of engagement, retention and career development, employment strategies and psychological contracts.
The topic of Colin’s psychology honours thesis was mid-life career change, and his Master of Business Administration included a dissertation on psychological contracts and the development of the WRDI®. He has previously been an adjunct lecturer to the Department of Psychology at the University of Queensland and he has also lectured and mentored to 3rd and 4th year psychology students, and supervised a number of conditionally registered psychologists and organisational psychology masters students.
Colin has presented at a number of workshops, seminars and conferences on the above themes, and he is currently writing a book entitled: Measuring and Managing Human Capital.
Jan Beames: Associate Director

Jan Beames is a highly experienced group facilitator, psychotherapist and coach, who previously worked in senior roles in the areas of social welfare and politics. Prior to rrelocating back to Melbourne, whe operated a thriving counselling practice, during which she developed an enviable reputation for assisting individuals and couples to turn their lives around.
Jan has pioneered workshop courses on personal development and self-esteem, facilitating many highly successful groups. She has appeared on a number of television programs, including the 7:30 Report,
Jan now provides coaching to many senior executives and managers in work related, personal development and job / career related issues.
